About the 3D Cube Section
The cube section is a set of free tools for the classic 3x3 twisty puzzle, made by the people behind Four in a Row Online. Everything runs in your browser.
What’s here
- 3D cubePlay and practise on a real 3D cube with smooth turns.
- SolverOur own two-phase solver, written from scratch.
- TrainerLearn the beginner’s method with practice and hints.
- TimerSpeedcubing timer with averages.
How it is built
- The 3D view is drawn with WebGL by a small renderer written for this site. It needs no plug-ins.
- The solver builds its look-up tables in a background worker the first time you use it, then solves in your browser. No positions are sent anywhere.
- All pictures of cube positions are drawn from the cube model itself, so they always match the moves shown.
- The pages are plain, fast HTML. The 3D code only loads on pages that need it.
Safe for children
There are no accounts, no names, no chat and no way to contact other people anywhere in the cube section. We never put adverts inside the cube or its controls, and we ask Google to show only non-personalised adverts on these pages.
What is stored on your device
To remember your cube, progress and times, these pages save a few items in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device and you can clear them in your browser settings at any time:
| Name | What it does |
|---|---|
| cube-state | Your cube on the 3D cube page, so you can carry on later. |
| cube-solver-turn | The cube you last scrambled or turned on the solver page. |
| cube-trainer | Which trainer stages you have finished and your current practice cube. |
| cube-times | Your timer results (time, penalty, scramble and date). |
| cube-timer-settings | Whether 15-second inspection is switched on. |
| consent-interim | Your answer to our cookie banner, shared with the rest of the site. |

Trade marks
We describe the puzzle as a 3D cube puzzle. People often search for it as a Rubik’s cube, so we use that name in some titles to describe what the tools do.
Rubik's Cube is a trade mark of Spin Master. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by Spin Master.
