How the trainer works
The trainer holds the cube with yellow on top and white on the bottom, with green facing you. That is how most beginner guides do it, because you build the white layer first and then finish the yellow side on top, where you can see it.
- Choose a stage. Start at stage 1, or jump to the step you find hard.
- Read the lesson. Each stage has a short explanation, a goal picture and the key moves.
- Solve the practice cube. It is mixed up so that the earlier steps are already done and only this step is left.
- Get help if you need it. Hint tells you what to do next. Show me does it for you on the cube, slowly. Watch the moves plays the key moves and then undoes them.
- Finish the goal. The trainer notices straight away and ticks the stage off.
Whole-cube turns (x, y, z) and middle slices are switched off here, so the cube always stays the same way up. That keeps the hints correct.
The seven stages
- White cross: Make a white cross on the bottom, with each white edge also matching the centre colour on its side.
- White corners: Put the four white corners in, so the whole bottom layer is finished.
- Middle layer edges: Slot the four middle edges in so the first two layers are done.
- Yellow cross: Make a yellow cross on top. Don't worry about the corners yet.
- Yellow edges: Turn the yellow edges so each one matches the centre colour on its side.
- Position yellow corners: Move each yellow corner to its right spot. It may still be twisted.
- Orient yellow corners: Twist the last corners so yellow faces up. The cube is solved!
