Step 6: How to Position the Yellow Corners
Move each yellow corner to its right spot. It may still be twisted. Look closely: a corner can be in the right place even if yellow is facing sideways.
Is a corner in the right place?
Look at a top corner’s three colours. If they are the same three colours as the centres around that corner (yellow plus the two side centres), it is in the right place, even if it is twisted. For example, the yellow-red-green corner is in the right place if it sits between the red and green centres.
The algorithm
U R U' L' U R' U' L. It keeps the front-right top corner where it is and moves the other three top corners round in a circle.
- Find a top corner that is in the right place. Hold the cube so it is at the front-right of the top.
- Do the algorithm. Then check the other corners. If they aren’t right yet, do it once more (from the same angle).
- If no corner is in the right place, do the algorithm once from any angle. Then one corner will be right, and you can carry on from step 1.
The front-right corner stays put while the other three swap round.
Keep yellow on top and don’t mind the twisted colours yet.

Tip: This move keeps the front-right top corner still and swaps the other three around it.
Questions people ask
Why doesn’t twisting matter here?
This step only moves corners to the right places. Step 7 twists them.
How many times will I need the algorithm?
Once or twice, plus once more if no corner was in place to begin with.
