Analyse Your Four in a Row Games

The fastest way to improve is to find out exactly where you went wrong. Our free solver works like a Connect 4 calculator for your own games.

Step by step

Connect 4 calculator analysis: the move played loses, while the solver's suggestion in the next column wins
Find the move where the score dropped.
  1. After a game, open the solver and click the columns in the order you played.
  2. Step back through the moves one at a time.
  3. Watch the score. The move where it drops from winning to losing, or from drawing to losing, is your mistake.
  4. Look at what the solver suggests instead, and work out why it’s better.
  5. Play the position again against the computer to practise.

What to look for

A double threat: two winning spaces at once, a common reason a game was lost
Look for moves that gave away a double threat.
  • Moves that gave your opponent a double threat.
  • Moves under your opponent’s winning space.
  • Late-game moves where the odd and even rule decided the result.
