Maths Four in a Row

Maths Four in a Row turns the classic game into times-tables practice. It’s the 4 in a row multiplication game (or Connect 4 multiplication game) teachers love: answer the question correctly and you get to drop your disc.

How it works

4 in a row multiplication game: answer 6 × 7 = 42 to earn your turn and drop a disc
Right answer: drop your disc.
  1. Choose the times tables (for example 2s, 5s and 10s, or all up to 12 × 12).
  2. Before each turn, the player answers a question.
  3. Right answer: drop your disc. Wrong answer: your turn is lost.
  4. First to four in a row wins.

Modes for the classroom

  • Multiplication (2 × 2 to 12 × 12).
  • Addition and subtraction for younger pupils.
  • Two teams on an interactive whiteboard.

Why it works

Children want to win the game, so they want to get the sums right. It mixes quick recall with planning ahead.

Teachers can play it on a classroom screen with our 2 player mode: ask each team a question before they drop a disc.
